HAIKOU, May 31 (Xinhua) -- A vice president of the court in the island province of Hainan is under investigation for alleged graft, authorities said Friday.

Zhang Jiahui, vice president of the Hainan Provincial Higher People's Court, has been placed under investigation for "suspected serious violations of laws and regulations," according to the provincial political and legal authority. Zhang's husband Liu Yuansheng is under police investigation on suspicion of law violations.

A joint investigation was launched earlier this month after online reports about Zhang and Liu's suspected corruption.
